The Reference Materials detailed in the MBH catalogue have been categorised according to the definitions given in ISO Guide 30 – 1992. There are 2 categories – Reference Materials and Certified Reference Materials. The definitions for these are given within the introduction to the MBH catalogue.
In the case of materials prepared and certified by MBH these have been classified as Certified Reference Materials when the analysis has been carried out by several laboratories which have been nationally accredited, e.g. in the UK by UKAS.
In addition to Reference Materials and Certified Reference Materials there are samples categorised as Setting Up Samples which have been prepared to meet the daily requirements of laboratories using direct reading spectrometers. These materials are not certified but supplied with a Data Sheet and are used for daily calibration checks.
